4-C EDA expands Web site property listings

For years, the 4-C Economic Development Authority has listed mid- to large-sized properties available for potential new businesses coming into the region.

"Before, the site has always been for our use only and for buildings at least 5,000 square feet in size," 4-C executive director Judy Radford said. "We have teamed up with the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce to make the site available to smaller properties as well."

Four-C's site and buildings program has been around for many years, Radford said.

"It was for larger sites for industrial use and pretty much the same type of properties the West Virginia Development Office maintains," Radford said.

Ellen Taylor, the chamber's president and chief executive officer, said she spoke with Radford about a way to create a special section on 4-C's Web site to market the smaller properties and business sites available in the region.

"We have a business creation and development committee and one of the things we talked about was that many of our members have smaller properties for lease, rent or sale, but no way to market them."

Taylor says the chamber is funding the additional service for its members on the site.

"Since the economic development authority deals with the new prospects, it only made sense to use its existing Web site," she said.

Joe Guffy with the chamber and Stefanie Meade with 4-C are handling the new project.

"The chamber will market this as well through our Web site," Taylor explained.

There are already nine business properties listed and one of those has been rented or leased, Taylor said.

"This service will benefit both the chamber’s members and economic development in the region," she said.

The Web site can be found at www.4ceda.org and the "real estate" link can be found on the upper right side of the page, according to Radford.

"Our challenge is keeping the information current," she said. "We need those listing the properties to contact the chamber or 4-C right away so that the information on the site is current and correct."

Four-C serves Raleigh, Fayette, Summers and Nicholas counties.

For more information about the service, contact Guffy at the chamber at 304-252-7328.
